Small Class Sizes
The Gorey Holistic Centre is bright, spacious and really ideal for traditional yoga classes. We can fit ten to fifteen people and will rarely go beyond this number so you are assured of your teachers attention.
Hatha Yoga
Hatha Yoga at comes mainly from the tradition of Swami Sivananda through present day Yoga master Shri Yogi Hari. Classes begin with 4 or 5 gentle Sun Salutations to warm up and then progress through a series of standing, inverted and then seated and lying postures which aim to stretch the body and move the spine gently through its entire range of motion. It is typical to feel relaxed, refreshed and energised after a Hatha Yoga session. Each session ends with a short conscious relaxation and meditation session of 4 or 5 minutes.

Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga Yoga is a unique movement and breathing system dating back thousands of years and brought to the modern world by Yoga master Shri K. Pattabhi Jois and his family. At the Studio we teach mainly the first series which focuses on strengthening and purifying the body. Each session begins with 10 sun salutations and then progresses through standing postures, seated postures, and then to the finishing sequence which includes back bends and inverted poses. It is typical to feel warm, energised, toned and stretched after an Ashtanga yoga session.

Yoga has far-reaching benefits on both the body and mind. Unlike other forms of exercise which have their own advantages, Yoga is unique in that breathing, balance, focus, concentration, strength, endurance and relaxation are all combined into a practice session. The accrued benefits include increased immune function, improved muscle tone, flexibility developed at a safe gradual pace, weight loss, re-alignment of body structures, improved memory, better balance, increased threshold for stress-management and much more…
