The Gorey YOGA Studio
We Have Moved!
After over four years in our cosy Studio on John St. Gorey Yoga is very pleased (but also a little nostalgic and sad) to announce our departure to a new andvastly improved location!
As of March 1st all classes will take place in the spacious, bright and quiet atmosphere of the Gorey Business Park Main building. Parking is ample and free and there is plenty of space to spread out, relax and stretch on parquet floors.
The yoga, of course, remains at the wonderful high standard of teaching that we have been offering you since 2005.
Speaking of yoga…..
Yoga is a simple form of exercise, available to all and will make you feel relaxed, content, alert and energized. Classes take place every evening Monday through Thursday and on, Friday and Saturday mornings. As teachers we are all qualified, insured and most of all, truly believe in Yoga as a way of life. We will teach you Yoga in a way that is of most benefit to you, with a view to helping you achieve your personal goals in the practice of yoga.
We teach two simple styles of yoga; Hatha and Ashtanga according to a tradition that dates back thousands of years and through a lineage that includes spiritual teachers such as Swami Sivananda and Shri Krishnamacharya. We endeavor to pass on these teachings in a pure form that precludes modification from other forms of physical exercise.

Small Class Sizes
The Studio is bright, spacious and really ideal for traditional yoga classes. We can fit ten to fifteen people comfortably and will rarely go beyond this number so you are assured of your teachers attention.
Hatha Yoga
Hatha Yoga at the Studio comes mainly from the tradition of Swami Sivananda through present day Yoga master Yogi Hari. Classes begin with 4 or 5 gentle Sun Salutations to warm up and then progress through a series of standing, inverted and then seated and lying postures which aim to stretch the body and move the spine gently through its entire range of motion. It is typical to feel relaxed, refreshed and energised after a Hatha Yoga session. Each session ends with a short conscious relaxation and meditation session of 4 or 5 minutes.

Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga Yoga is a unique movement and breathing system dating back thousands of years and brought to the modern world by Yoga master Shri K. Pattabhi Jois and his family. At the Studio we teach mainly the first series which focuses on strengthening and purifying the body. Each session begins with 10 sun salutations and then progresses through standing postures, seated postures, and then to the finishing sequence which includes back bends and inverted poses. It is typical to feel warm, energised, toned and stretched after an Ashtanga yoga session.

Yoga has far-reaching benefits on both the body and mind. Unlike other forms of exercise which have their own advantages, Yoga is unique in that breathing, balance, focus, concentration, strength, endurance and relaxation are all combined into a practice session. The accrued benefits include increased immune function, improved muscle tone, flexibility developed at a safe gradual pace, weight loss, re-alignment of body structures, improved memory, better balance, increased threshold for stress-management and much more…
